Self-Reflection

Reflection on Learning

Return to your Blog. What can you add to your knowledge of you and of your knowledge of teaching in your content area?

By three methods we may learn wisdom: first, by reflection, which is noblest; second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest.
-Confucius

I really liked the personality tests.  They described me well and it was fun to read them and reflect on them.  I think next year I will do one of them on our Chromebooks during the first week of school.  It will be a fun getting to know each other activity, while also introducing the students to the Chromebooks and how to use them.

I love teaching, I love the students, and I love the interactions with the students and the discussions that follow.  I love teaching students math, even if I usually get the remedial students since I teach a lower level math class.  I feel privileged to get the students I do, and hopefully instill enjoyment and a love for math.  I love touching the students in a way that helps them grow and I wish I could reach more students.  Teaching the unit made me realize this even more, as the students do not go to my school and they seemed so far behind in math and already had a dislike for math.  After working with them for just a few minutes, they seemed to enjoy it more already.  I hope they continue to grow!  I wish I could math adopt them!
