How did your personality affect your choice of content area?
Based on my personality survey, I am interested in knowledge and learning and serving others. Teaching fits this description well. :-) I also like to think and use logic, which is helpful in mathematics.
How does your teaching/learning style affect your choice of content area?
Being visual, I can help other students in math by giving examples and showing them how to do things. I like using pictures, charts, and graphs to explain things rather than relying on words.
How does or will your personality affect your relationships with your students?
I create strong relationships with my students. I am caring and am intuitive about their feelings and emotions. Students sense that and we create strong bonds. Creating strong bonds helps students focus more during class since that relationship is built outside of class.
How does or will your teaching style and learning style affect your students’ abilities to be successful?
I can help students be successful by creating relationships that helps students want to do better in class.
And you choose your words accordingly, Jamie! Use that Intuitive strength to determine your students' mathematical thinking...worked so well for me! Thinking can be unblocked...and, that was the use of my intuition with math students. Perhaps we can unblock the expressive part of you as well. Your matter-of-fact quality suits you well in life and in teaching. Thank you, Jamie.
