Introduction: ME! :-)

My name is Jamie Arreola.  I have been teaching at my current school since 2007, a K-12 charter school in southern California.  I decided to become a teacher because I have always loved teaching other people and serving others.  I was always the student that was asked to help teach the other students.  I also stayed after school to help my peers and my older siblings with their school work.  I was good at many things and I had many choices of professions, but I believe God called me to be a teacher.  I love the kids and I love helping them to grow.  I have a multiple subjects teaching credential.  I taught sixth graders pre-algebra for one period in the morning and then I taught a core group of students multiple subjects for the rest of the day for four years.  The next year I taught 1/2 the day Life Science and 1/2 the day Pre-Algebra.  The last two years I have taught Pre-Algebra for the whole day.  Next year I will be teaching pre-algebra and Algebra 1.

I took a personality test today.  Here are my results:

EI
Do you prefer to direct energy towards the outer world of people
and things (E) or the inner world of ideas and information (I)?
Extraversion involves interacting with people, having broad interests, and tending to act first and then think.Introversion involves concentrating on a few, deep issues, and thinking things through before acting.
SN
Do you prefer to deal with facts and tangible
outcomes (S) or possibilities and potential (N)?
Sensation looks at facts, takes a practical approach and tends to be interested in clear, detailed information.iNtuition looks at potential and possibilities, and tends to be interested in what is not yet known.
TF
Do you prefer to decide on the basis of
objective logic (T) or subjective values (F)?
Thinking involves using principles, taking a detached, objective view as an onlooker, analysing and criticising.Feeling involves using values, taking a personal, subjective view as a participant, valuing and appreciating.
JP
Do you prefer to live an organised and structured
life (J) or be flexible and go with the flow (P)?
Judgement structures and controls life, making decisions and establishing closure or stability.Perception retains flexibility, inquiring, being spontaneous, keeping options open and waiting to see what develops.
In personality type theory there are four pairs of opposites. Isabel Briggs Myers (IBM), the creator of the four letter code, believed that for every pair there were two groups - e.g. extraverts and introverts. However, C.G. Jung, on whose theory IBM based her ideas, believed there was a third group in the middle - i.e. those who liked a balance of both. Research tends to support Jung's view.

Relevance To You

The theoretical differences matter because they can affect important decisions, such as your choice of career. In IBM's theory, you choose a career associated with your type. In Jung's version, you choose a career that has the right balance for you.
The bars in the table, right, show your preferred balance of preferences. The optional Careers Report uses both approaches to match you with careers. We'll describe this in more detail on a later page.

In IBM's theory, you combine the four letters to get your personality type code. In Jung's version of the theory, each type is a stereotype that you can refer to, in order to understand your unique personality. This is like using landmarks to identify your unique location.
The table (right) shows how close your personality is to each stereotype. You can use the descriptions, below, to check which is your closest type.
ISFJ
If your closest personality type is ISFJ then you are interested in knowledge and experience, particularly in relation to family, friends and colleagues. You are a quiet, serious observer of people, listening intently and getting to know a great deal about them. You pay attention to their emotions and feelings, and are keenly aware of the state of relationships between them and you take your responsibilities to them very seriously.
ESFJ
If your closest personality type is ESFJ then you seek to develop harmony in relationships, and promote cooperation and teamwork. You regard the needs of others as very important, perhaps more so than your own, and seek to recognize their contributions and make them feel valued. You encourage and motivate others, engender team spirit, and try to overcome any conflict by finding common ground and ways in which people can agree.

These reports are pretty correct on my personality.  :-)

An ISTJ will do best in a career in which they can use their excellent organizational skills and their powers of concentration to create order and structure. ISTJs seem to fit extremely well into the Management and Executive layer of the corporate business world.
